Carly grew up in a suburbia of Seattle, out towards horse country, with farming in her blood. As her family says, “you can take the girl from the farm, but you can’t take the farm out of the girl.” She came from a long line of farmers in New Jersey and NE Montana; everything from wheat to dairy to orchards. Her father owned a cattle ranch in Helena, MT and her grandfather a citrus orchard in Fullerton, CA. Her auntie had a grain ranch in Nevada, and her uncle a cattle ranch in Fresno. At age 4, she used to follow her Mother around the kitchen garden nibbling on green tomatoes, while awaiting the tasty honeycombs from their orange orchard hive.
She has beens studying permaculture, and organic and biodynamic farming ever since 2010, when she started volunteering at Jubilee Biodynamic Farms and CSA in Carnation, WA. She graduated UW with a BA in business and visual arts, complemented with a Permaculture Design Certificate from OSU. She has a background in project and client management, as well as visual arts and aims to bring these perspectives forth into her consulting and designs.
Carly has created 4 of her own gardens in her lifetime, in the greater Seattle area, zone 8b. She has helped design and build numerous friends and family’s gardens and properties in this area. She values site regeneration, soil health, ecological activism, and learning from experience, and growing from there. She believes that Art is at the heart of eARTh and nature is the most epic artist of all.
